Chen Huixian Seminar in St. Louis

Master Chen will be conducting two seminars in St. Louis, MO on Saturday July 10th and Sunday July 11th.

Saturday, July 10th:

Chen Taijiquan Applications and Qinna: 12:30pm - 5:30pm

Chen Huixian will be reviewing the 8 ‘Jin’ or ‘Energies’ of Chen Taijiquan, also known as the Taiji Ba Fa. We will practice methods of training these Energies independently from the form, as well as breaking down where they are found in the form movements and how they are used in combat and self-defense.

This seminar will also review Chen Taiji Push Hands training techniques. Participants will practice the 2-person sets with a partner as well as learning some Qinna (joint manipulation) techniques that can be developed from Push Hands training.

In addition to Push Hands techniques, Chen Huixian will demonstrate some practical applications of the Chen Taijiquan form movements, with a focus on the 8 Energies. Seminar participants will work with a partner on some of these applications.

Sunday, July 11th:

Chen Taijiquan Old Frame, Routine One (Laojia Yilu): 10:30am - 5:30pm

Master Chen will be reviewing sections one and two of the 74-posture Old Frame First Routine (LaoJia Yilu) and then teaching sections three and four. This is the traditional Taijiquan form created by her ancestor, 14th-generation Chen Changxing.

In Chen Village, this form is traditionally practiced for up to 10-years exclusively before learning any additional empty-hand or weapons forms. It is considered to be most essential form to practice in order to attain the correct body state for Taijiquan. Repeated and correct practice of Old Frame, Routine One (Laojia Yilu) helps the practitioner to “forge the Taiji body”.
